Cheumatopsyche lepida is widespread throughout whole Europe,
including E-, N- and NW-Russia, Sardinia, Sicily and the North Aegean
This species inhabits lower reaches of rivers and streams with higher
current velocity (Botosaneanu & Malicky 1978, Tobias & Tobias
1981, Robert & Wichard 1994, Edington & Hildrew 1995, Waringer
& Graf 1997). Larvae are usually found in small numbers; however
they can be quite common in the outflows of lakes (Edington &
Larvae are scrapers and filter feeders, feeding on aufwuchs, detritus
and small invertebrates (Waringer & Graf 1997, Graf et al. 2002).
Adults are present from June to September (Waringer & Graf 1997).
