Distribution:
The distribution area of Apatania fimbriata is restricted
to Central Europe.
Habitat:
The species inhabits rivulets and trickles near springs and small
rivers (Botosaneanu & Malicky 1978, Pitsch 1993, Robert &
Wichard 1994, Waringer & Graf 1997), and can often be found
in hygropetric sites. It is supposed to prefer waters rich in calcium
carbonate (Dittmar 1955).
Nutrition:
Larvae are scrapers, feeding on epilithic algae (Szczesny 1986,
cited by Waringer & Graf 1997).
Adults:
Adults are on the wing from February to October (Waringer &
Graf 1997).
